Each year, we hold our Annual Squad Championships which allow our gymnasts to compete against
one another. This gives our younger squad gymnasts, just starting out in competitive gymnastics,
a chance to compete and demonstrate their skills to an audience where their families and friends
can watch and enjoy the performances.
A trophy is presented to the overall winner, both male and female, in each squad, plus medals for overall First, Second and Third. In addition to these presentations we award Gold, Silver and Bronze medals to the highest scoring gymnasts for floor and vault in both the boys' and girls' squads. The competition runs all day and sees every squad member competing. There is a special trophy awarded to the highest scoring gymnast of the day. This is the Bob Warne Range and Conditioning Trophy. Following our move to Thornton Heath we held our annual squad championships at the new site. The competition was held on 9 December 2007 and was a tremendous success. Following a change to the code and the method of marking routines it was decided that for the overall floor and vault medals the Elite Squad, A-Squad and B-Squad would compete against each other and the Mini-Squad and Development Squad would compete against each other. There are also separate Range and Conditioning Trophies for the girls and boys squads. Some of the older squad girls have opted not to work all apparatus and we now have a girls Floor and Vault squad which we hope eventually will, when more join them, be a girls Team Gym squad. The results for the 2007 squad championships are shown below: |
