Wednesday 5.00 pm - 6.00 pm These are newly formed classes since our move to Strand House. The aim of these classes is so that people with learning or physical disabilities and who have special needs can enjoy the freedom and experience what gymnastics and movement can offer in a secure environment with specialised equipment including trampolines, under the direction of our coaches who are qualified to teach gymnastics to people with disabilities. In addition to this our top Disabilities National Champion is also be on hand helping in the classes offering visual display so as others can draw from his experiences within the sport. Philip who is now aged 22 years has been a member of our club since the age of 3. Although the club does already integrate children and adults with mild disabilities into our main stream, these classes will cater for children and adults that would find it hard to cope in mainstream and who need more of a one to one coaching. These classes will take place under the supervision of qualified coaches and it will be imperative that a teacher, carer, or parents stays during the session to assist and act as support back up to the coaches. Back to top Saturday Kinder (Class 2 & 3) 10.00am - 11.00am & 11.00am - 12.00pm These 2 classes are for children aged 4½ - 6 years, and caters for children principally who have attended one of our assessments. It is our aim in this class to teach balance, co-ordination and how to condition and stretch their bodies ready to learn basic gymnastics i.e. Forward & Backward Rolls. Once a child has achieved the Bronze / Silver Kinder Award they may be promoted to a higher class at the discretion of the coach in charge. Back to top Saturday Kinder (Class 4) 12.00pm - 1.15pm Work in this class continues on balance, co-ordination, conditioning and flexibility skills that they have built up in the previous class. This class prepares boys and girls to further their gymnastics ability ready for the Thursday Transitional Class. Back to top Thursday Basic (Class 1) 4.30pm - 6.00pm Here, the youngsters are closely monitored for the Boys' or Girls' Development Squads or for advancement into the Recreational Class Structure. In past experience children who have entered this class at 5 years have not had time to adjust to full time school find it hard to cope with a class straight after a long day at primary school. However, this is only a guideline and there are always be exceptions. The children in this class have the opportunity to use both the full size and Mini Gym apparatus. Routines are performed on each piece of apparatus in preparation for their Class Championships. Back to top Saturday Top Basic (Class 5) 11.00am - 1.30pm This class is for gymnasts who show extra effort and a higher level of skill than our regular class members. These gymnasts are prepared for future progression into our Squad structure. We invite the most promising gymnasts to trial for the squads. The trial is for 3 months, during which time we study the gymnast’s attitude towards competitive and disciplined training. We monitor each individual’s skill growth before offering Squad-Status. These gymnasts are encouraged to enter Novice Competitions outside our club. Work for the other part of the year is on their Class Championships where they compete against each other. Parents, friends and families are invited to be a part of the audience at these events.
